>What products do you use to develop Web sites?
For Web publishing, we use Macromedia Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver generates very clean HTML code that meets W3C validation standards.
For Web graphics, we use both Fireworks and Adobe Photoshop because they provide clear, compressed graphics that load fast. We also use Macromedia Flash in some of our sites.

If you have the text for your site written before the design process begins, it generally takes 3 - 8 weeks from start to finish. Your text should be in electronic format, preferably MS Word format. Not having your copy completed before the design process can significantly delay the production of your site.

>What is a domain name and why do I need one?
Every Web site must have a domain name. A domain name is your Web site's unique address on the Internet.
As an example, the domain name for JacalDesigns is http://www.JacalDesigns.com. The most common domain names will end in .com, .net, or .org, but there are many more to choose from.
Although you are free to use any domain registrant you choose, JacalDesigns offers domain name registration for only $15.00/year. Going this route will allow us to get the site up and running faster as well as offer us the best chance to make improvements to your site if you need it in a more timely manner.

>What is hosting and why do I need it?
Your Web site needs a hard drive on the Internet - a place for all your domain name, Web page files and graphics to reside. You buy or rent Web space through a hosting company. Most hosting companies offer monthly, quarterly, and yearly packages.
Hosting fees vary greatly depending on your needs. Your hosting package will need special features if you plan to have a storefront on your Web site, if you will be connected to a database, or if you have special programming requirements.
JacalDesigns offers a cheap hosting pack for only $100.00 a year. That is less than $9.00 a month.

>What is your payment policy and what type of payments do you accept?
JacalDesigns will always provide our potential customers with 100% free estimates. Upon acceptance of an estimate the customer is required to submit a 30% down payment. If, at anytime, for any reason, the customer decides to cancel the project, all payments will be refunded except for 10% of the original estimate. This 10% is viewed as earnest money and is for any time spent putting together your website. An additional payment of 30% is expected once a working version of your website is ready for you to view. We will work together with you to make sure your website is everything you expect it to be before final release to the web. Final payment of 40% is expected once your website has been completed and you are satisfied in everyway. Any cost associated with domain registration and or hosting purchasing will not be refunded at anytime.| return to top |
